Short summary
Mention an email address in a comment to notify an existing user or invite a new user to collaborate on a Document.
When to use this feature
Use this when you want to:
- Bring a Team Member into a Document conversation.
- Invite someone who does not yet have a Proposaly account.
- Notify only the people you explicitly mention.
Step-by-step instructions
- In the Business Portal, open Workspaces → open the document
- Open Send Message (or ‘Add comment’) to display the "Send Message" dialog.

- In "Message", type your comment.
- Type "@" and enter an email address in @email.com format.

- If the email domain is different from yours, a message should be shown
- Click "Send".
The mentioned person is added as a commenter to the Document. Existing users receive a comment email. New users receive an invitation email with a sign-up link.
Notes & limitations
- Only people explicitly mentioned in the comment receive a notification.
- People already in the commenter list are not notified unless they are mentioned.
- New invitations expire after 16 days.
- Each Document can have up to 50 users.
- If the Workspace is private, invited users are added after sign-up.
- Commenters can view and add comments only.
Troubleshooting
Q: Why did someone not receive a notification?
A: Only explicitly mentioned people receive notifications. Add their email mention to the comment and send it.
Q: What happens if the person does not have a Proposaly account?
A: They receive an invitation email with a sign-up link. After signing up, the relevant comment thread opens.
Q: What if the email address is invalid?
A: The email must be in @email.com format. The validation message should be shown
Q: What happens when the Document already has 50 users?
A: The Document user limit is 50.
